Range 30–240. Classic mechanical metronomes (Maelzel, 1815) used 40–208, covering every tempo term. For faster drills use subdivisions — 100 BPM in sixteenths already equals 400 note-events per minute

How to Practice with This Online Metronome

A metronome is the single most important practice tool for guitarists. PickBeat's free online metronome lets you set any tempo from 40 to 208 BPM, choose a time signature, accent any beat, and subdivide into eighth notes, triplets or sixteenths. Use tap tempo to match a song you are listening to, or turn on the speed ramp to raise the tempo automatically while you practice.

Start every new exercise at a slow tempo — around 60 BPM — and only speed up when you can play it cleanly three times in a row. Practicing with subdivisions trains your inner pulse, and accenting beat one helps you feel the bar instead of counting it. The metronome runs entirely in your browser, works on phones in portrait or landscape, and keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
